AccuWeather Partners with FDNY’s Fire Zone to Help Keep NYC Families Safe and Prepared for the Upcoming Winter Season.
Winter is here! Is your family ready for winter weather related emergencies. To help families prepare AccuWeather has launched a new year-round weather preparedness program that focuses on keeping people safe and informed. With November being the month with the most dramatic drop in temperatures what a better time to get educated on winter weather safety.
Earlier this week I attended an event at the FDNY Fire Zone to learn all about the AccuWeather Ready initiative. AccuWeather, the global leader in weather information and digital media, has extended its continued mission to save lives, protect property and help people prosper with its new severe weather preparedness program. AccuWeather has partnered with the FDNY Foundation and presented them with a check for $25,000 check for their hard work on educating the city of NYC.
A group of media and 80 1st grade students from the Bronx were taken through mock interactive demonstration. What was memorable for me was the damage that a simple space heater can do. Since we have our family room in the basement we usually use a space heater there. Now I know to always plug in the space heater directly to an outlet.and keep everything three feet away from it. These simple steps can save your family’s lives.
All of the AccuWeather Ready information is available on the 24/7 AccuWeather Network, AccuWeather.com/Ready and the AccuWeather app.
