Winter in the Pocono Mountains

Super excited to share all the deets on our trip to the Poconos this winter. If you are flowing me on the gram and Twitter, then you saw my insta stories and pics. Did you know that the Poconos are only two hours away from NYC.

We first made it to the Shawnee Inn. The inn was super huge which surprised me a little since the pictures online dont justify the beauty. It had a charming and nostalgic feel to it. It is an old building but that’s what makes it charming. As you sit on the huge porch in the rocking chairs you can just imagine what it must have been like in the early 1900’s and this seems like it was the place to be. The rooms were roomy but cozy.  The bathroom was huge and clean.   The Inn is in a good location with plenty of places to explore if you want to leave the Inn for a bit. They have hikes and a brewery tour and there was always something to do. There is a restaurant and brewery right on site so you don’t have to drive if you didn’t want to. All of the employees were pleasant and friendly and seemed to like their jobs. We had a great night and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

I also wanted to mention the incredible food at the The Gem and Keystone on site at the inn as I mentioned before.

The next morning after a wonderful breakfast at the Shawnee Inn we headed Shawnee Mountain for ski lessons. Our family had a great time here. Every person working there from those in snack bar, lessons, on lifts, rentals, etc were friendly and very helpful. We felt so comfortable. Our 4 kids ages 8-13 took fantastic affordable ski lessons and the 8 and 10 year old were skiing the bunny slope independently when they were done. My husband and I took a refresher since it had been 20 years since being in skiis with Anna who was very young, but very professional and thorough moving at our comfort level higher and higher up the mountain. For a family first starting out on skiis, we had a great experience and would go back.

After a morning of fun and excitement skiing we were ready to eat some grub. Close to all resorts in the Poconos,  Barley Creek Brewing Company is a perfect family restaurant to satisfy all choices. My hubby had the juiciest burger called the mountain burger. We finished of desert with an ice-cream sundae which were the kids favorite of course.

We then ended the night with galactic snow tubing at the Camelback Resort. This was my first time ever and must admit it was the high light of the trip. I think we went on more then 15 times.  Camelback is known for having the biggest snow tubing lanes in the USA. Ride solo or pairs or even triples to go faster. The best way to tube as at night with the galactic tubing. lights every where.

We also got to spend the entire next day enjoying the rest of the resort. At the Camelback Resort they have everything. They have skiing, snow tubing, snow boarding, indoor water park, arcade, rock climbing, and much more. Camelback Lodge has a lot to offer families.
