I was recently invited to attend Nissan’s Safety Academy hosted by #NissanMamas and the NY chapter of #BlogginMamas. We had a chance to learn in depth on safety precautions when travelling with children in cars. We also got to hear statistics on minority drivers that were extremely shocking for me as a Latina. Some of us also got to test drive a number of Nissan vehicles, such as the Rogue and the Armada. As previous posts you know my family and I are are loyal customers of Nissan so how more exciting to attend this great event. The event turned out to be both informational and fun! As an added bonus, I got to finally meet a bunch bloggin mamas face to face.
What truly shocked me was that Hispanic infants and toddlers are 10x more likely to be unrestrained in a car. Another shocker was that Latino children die in crashes at 60% rate higher then no Latino children. As a family we have been taking road trips since DJ was an infant and I have always been extra precautions with car-seats and I even sat with him in the back seat. I feel that perhaps Latino families are not educated on how to safely drive with an infant and toddler. Thanks to Nissan I was able to absorb all this information in order to spread the word on driving with children safely.
