Although I received compensation for this post, all opinions are my own.
Summer is almost over in Brooklyn and kids tend to go into hibernation in the fall. With a busy school schedule and the sun coming down sooner, kids sometimes need that push to go outside and burn those calories. Let’s Play is an initiative by Dr Pepper Snapple Group that provides kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority.
Let’s Play is currently holding a competition, the Let’s Play High School Makeover Challenge, which will award one lucky school with a $100K in brand-new athletic equipment. Student-athletes from all over the country submitted videos explaining what sports means to their school to enter the contest. The top 20 submissions have been selected.
I’m so proud not only as a Brooklyn mama but also a part of the charter school system! Congrats to Summit Academy Charter High School in Brooklyn NY on being a semi-finalist. WHOOP WHOOP!!
Student-athletes, under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult, submitted a 60 to 90 second video that strongly conveyed the contest’s theme of “Because of Sports…” and the school’s need for updated athletic equipment. Dr Pepper Snapple Group chose the top 20 submissions.
To select the top 10, a voting period open to the public will be held September 8-17, 2017. Ten finalists will be chosen by the public through online voting. Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Good Sports will select the winning high school, which will receive $100,000 in new athletic equipment.
Let’s support this great initiative by voting today at: http://bit.ly/2wP8Nef
